Health and Safety Advisor
North East | £53,000 + Car Allowance and Excellent Benefits
Irwin and Colton have been engaged by an established, leading construction and demolition contractor who operate across the Northeast. With an annual group turnover of £100 million, they are now looking to recruit a senior Health and Safety Advisor. The successful candidate will be working across a range of projects, so previous multi-site experience will be beneficial.
Responsibilities of the Health and Safety Advisor will include:
Conducting regular site inspections and engagement visits to assess the effectiveness of SHEQ Management Systems, ensuring corrective actions are completed within agreed timescales.
Advising on the production of essential documentation and supporting operational teams in applying SHEQ Management Systems, policies, procedures, and processes to enhance awareness and capability.
Ensuring incidents and near misses are effectively managed, reported, investigated, and subjected to root cause analysis, supporting operational teams in embedding lessons learned.
Preparing and disseminating SHEQ Alerts, Bulletins, and other communication campaigns.
The successful Health and Safety Advisor will have:
NEBOSH General and/or NEBOSH Construction or equivalent Health and Safety Qualification with a minimum of Tech IOSH membership.
Proven experience as a Health & Safety Advisor in the demolition industry, with expertise in construction and demolition activities.
In-depth knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in demolition, including detailed knowledge and experience of CDM.
Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with strong written and oral communication skills.
