Assistant Director of Health and Safety Compliance
Salary: Circa £90,000 + Excellent Benefits
Location: Buckinghamshire (Hybrid working pattern)
Irwin and Colton are delighted to be working with a leading social housing provider, seeking a highly experienced Health and Safety professional to ensure that health and safety standards are consistently met and exceeded across the organization. Reporting to the Executive Director of Finance & Resources, this role is critical in providing strategic direction and operational oversight for all health and safety initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure full compliance with all relevant health and safety legislation across the organisation, managing risks and implementing mitigating actions.
Advisory Role: Provide expert advice to the Board, Executive, and Senior Management on current and emerging health and safety regulations, and best practices.
Policy Development: Lead the development and continuous improvement of health and safety policies, procedures, and practices, fostering a strong safety culture within the organization.
Training: Develop and deliver comprehensive health and safety training programs for employees and board members, ensuring that everyone is up-to-date with the latest legislation and practices.
Audits & Reporting: Plan and conduct regular audits to evaluate the effectiveness of health and safety systems. Analyse health and safety data, report key performance indicators, and present findings to the Board and Committees.
Incident Management: Oversee the investigation of all accidents, incidents, and near misses, ensuring appropriate reporting under RIDDOR and implementing corrective actions where necessary.
Leadership: Provide effective leadership and direction to the Health and Safety Team, promoting a culture of high performance, continuous improvement, and customer-focused service.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
A relevant diploma level qualification with substantial experience across a large property portfolio. (Ideally residential)
Advanced technical expertise in health and safety legislation and management practices.
Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to engage confidently across all levels of the organization.
Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with a commitment to promoting equality and diversity in service delivery.
A full driving license and access to a vehicle for work purposes.
