Lancaster University Students' Union

Lancaster University campus occupies a 560-acre parkland site with approximately 12,000 students of whom all are automatically enrolled as members of the Students’ Union. The Union supports student clubs and societies, provide recreational and competitive sporting opportunities, co-ordinate volunteering projects, run environmental and sustainability initiatives and more.

Where we started

The organisation was going through a major change program and required a consultant to review their health and safety policies, identifying gaps, and working proactively with senior management on improvement strategies, as well as delivering new initiatives for the function moving forward.

How we helped

Due to the departure of their previous consultant, the Union required a candidate who was able to start immediately. We were able to efficiently provide a shortlist of contractors, with the successful candidate starting the position within 2 weeks.

The successful candidate

From regular check-ins with the client, we understand the candidate has been working hard making improvements across the organisation, delivering workshops across campus, and promoting a can-do attitude towards events and student union activities. In a short period of time, they have made an incredibly positive impact, including working closely with a local charity to install a defibrillator within the Union bar.
